Penn Central Car Movements #98 Part 4 / The Inbound Train Arrives

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #98!!!

Our two layout virtual op with my NYCTL layout interchanging HO scale freight traffic with Ralph's Kings Port Division continues today with Train TY-2 bringing PCCM freight traffic from Selkirk to Terminal Yard.

Train TY-2 powered by an FP7-F7B-FP7 lash up comes thru Empire City and enters the High Line.

The TY-2 passes Bedford Tower.

Train TY-2 heads thru Bedford towards Terminal Yard.

Our first PCCM Inbound Train of 2023, the TY-2, draws a crowd as it arrives in Terminal Yard.

The TY-2 power has cut from the train and arrives at the fuel rack. In the background the shop is looking crowded. Could be trouble.

Once again Big Mike working the yard job with the refugee FM Trainmaster H-24-66 #6702 is out to couple up to the TY-2 caboose with Kar Knocker ready to blue flag and inspect the train.

With the TY-2 inspected and accepted four TOFC flatcars from the B&M via Mechanicville and Selkirk are shoved towards the TOFC track.

The TOFC cars will be held here until the TOFC cars being loaded are ready to go and the blue flag is removed.

Big Mike pulls the rest of the TY-2 into Terminal Yard for classification and blocking. Empty PRR and NYC hoppers from Corning Glass and the six empty hoppers from Con Ed's Port Owen power plant are destined for Hudson Coal.

The eight empty hoppers from TY-2 are combined with another cut of empties for movement to Hudson Coal.

Three hot 60' boxcars for the Bedford Park Ford Plant and an LV boxcar also going to Bedford Park are shoved into track #7 and coupled onto a waiting caboose.

A Cargill covered hopper and PC depressed center flatcar are placed on the headend of Train EC-1 that takes freight traffic for the LIRR and EBRR to North Side Yard in Empire City, NY. The LIRR block is on the head end. The PC boxcar will be cut into the EBRR block.

With the TY-2 freight consist blocked and ready in the local trains the yard job yields the tracks to the Yard A switcher coming into Terminal Yard.

The Yard A switcher shoves a cut of cars into Terminal Yard track #6 for further movement within the PC system.

The Yard A switcher shoves the remaining cut of cars that includes empty PC boxcar #360063 up track #8 towards the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage facility.

Empty PC boxcar#360063 is at TW&CS and spotted for its next PCCM load.

The Yard A switcher works the TOFC ramp now that the blue flag has been removed.

The Yard A Switcher works the TOFC track.

We'll cut it here today with the four TOFC flatcars from Mechanicville that came in on Train TY-2 spotted on the TOFC track for unloading.

We'll pick it up tomorrow and check in with the Bedford Park Yard Job.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Nice inbound start with a westbound train meeting TY-2 at Bedford. Terminal Yard had a lot of movement and the FM Trainmaster worked well breaking down the train at Terminal Yard. Nice work with the Yard “A” switcher handling some moves with the TOFC flat cars.

    Excellent Sir John!

    West Mill out.

The inbound portion of this PCCM opens with one of our favorite consists entering Empire City! The FP7/F7B/FP7 lashup is becoming a real favorite. I'll be interested to see if thee are any problems going on at the Terminal Yard shops if they seem crowded! The N.Y.C.T.L. is well known for its engine repair acumen so I don't imagine there will be problems for long! Great work assembling the next local trains and delivering cars to locations within the yard for unloading. I liked the in and out move at the TOFC track! As a Minnesotan I certainly enjoyed seeing the vintage Stone Arch Bridge postcard. It later becomes a pedestrian walkway but we'll stay in the PC era here! :)

Thank you for the compliments Ralph!!! The FP7-F7B-FP7 have indeed become a fan and engineer favorite!!! The Terminal shop employees have their hands full with several locomotives sidelined for mechanical issues. A solution will be forthcoming and the sidelined engines should be back by PCCM 99. I thought you'd like the Stone Arch Bridge postcard!!! I'm happy it is still in use as a walkway and was not torn down.
