Penn Central Car Movements #96 / Interim Freight Yard Reports

 Greetings All,

Here is the current status of the twenty two (22) PCCM #96 freight cars held at the local freight yards of the New York Central Layout after our outbound trains departed for Selkirk.

These PCCM freight cars will be making what we call intra layout movements to local industries for their next PCCM loads. The intra layout moves were put into place for some of the PCCM freight cars to provide more variety of loading and prototype movement instead of just ping ponging the PCCM freight cars from layout to layout.

Penn Central Terminal Yard, East Bedford, NY. 
The Terminal Yard freight agent has directed the following empty cars be held for local loading.
HRC 941029: Held for loading at Schaefer Brewery. Bedford NY
P&LE 35892: Held for loading at American Hardware Supply. Bedford Park
AP 9416: Held for loading at T&R Gravel, Bedford NY
P&E 3575: Non Track cleaning car held for loading at Schaefer Brewery. Bedford NY
TP&W 627: Held for loading at Berk Enterprises. Bedford NY
AP 4035: Held for loading at Schaefer Brewery. Bedford NY
AP 4182: Held for loading at Schaefer Brewery. Bedford NY

Penn Central Yard A. East Bedford, NY at Pier 16. 
The freight broker for the lessor of these four Increased Per Diem TP&W boxcars has arranged for the cars to receive PCCM loads at Consolidated Grocery Warehouse within the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage Complex. The empty cars were pulled from University Millwork in Bedford NY and moved to Yard A to await placement.

Penn Central Bedford Park Yard. Bedford Park, NY.
The Bedford Park freight agent has directed the following cars be held for local PCCM loading.
PC 160502: Held for loading at American Hardware Supply
RI 33062: Held for loading at American Hardware Supply

Empire Belt RR North Side Yard. Empire City NY.
The Empire Belt RR freight agent has held the following PCCM freight cars at North Side Yard for PCCM loading at Empire City industries.
SRR Bulkhead Flats: Held for loading at Empire City Caterpillar
TP&W 70126: Held for loading at Empire Produce
AP 58260: Held for loading at Empire Produce
AP 58279: Held for loading at Empire Produce
AP 60382: Held for loading at Moore & Company
AP 60394: Held for loading at Moore & Company
PC 360508: Held for loading at City Pallet
NPM 498: Held for frozen produce loading at Empire Produce. Must be fueled and checked by Perishable Protective Service Inspector prior to movement Empire Produce and will be inspected by PPSI upon receiving loaded car back at North Side Yard.

The four freight yards of the New York Central Layout are now ready to receive the PCCM #96 Inbound freight traffic from Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR, PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and our other off layout connections.

A report from Selkirk indicates there are two PCCM trains being readied for departure that will haul forty four (44) PCCM freight cars to Terminal Yard for movement to local industries and interchanges. These cars will be combined with the twenty two PCCM freight cars awaiting movement in the four rail yards.

Looks like we're going to be busy!!

  1. This is a great report detailing what many would call a ‘Management Report’ for the disposition of freight cars in a yard. I think this is very interesting and it’s more like a memo to you of what needs to happen on your layout. When people read this, they can only imagine how big the layout is with 4 yard listings!

    I did have to look up to see if there was such a person called a “Perishable Protective Service Inspector” and lo and behold (thank you google) I found it! We’ve all heard of FDA inspectors, but hey, who knew!

  2. Hi 1:1Sir Neal, Glad you enjoyed reading the report . You're right this is a sort of memo for me, you and Ralph and those who follow the PCCMs.
    When the 44 Inbound cars arrive this should serve as a reminder when seeing PCCM cars being moved to various locations that were not among the two Inbound trains and the 44 PCCM inbound cars.

  4. Your Interim Yard Report illustrates the large amount of freight traffic being handled by the N.Y.C.T.L. this time around! Seems like the Rail Traffic Management Form has scheduled an unusually high number of intra-layout moves for you that add interest to our virtual ops. Four yard and lots of action!
