Penn Central Car Movements #72 / NYCTL Part 3

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the Penn Central Car Movements #72!!

The P.C.C.M. #72 three layout virtual with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with 1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division continues today.

We open up a the Empire Belt RR's North Side Yard with the EBRR trainmen going over their assignments. 1/87th scale Sir Neal will be running the Morning Industrial Job using the newly arrived U23Cs. 1/87th scale PC Ralph in GP30 #2160 will work the yard and take the transfer train, EB-2 to Terminal Yard.
The Morning Industrial Job is heading over Hohman Ave to work the west side industries.
Some of the MIJ cars are left on the EC viaduct as the U23Cs shove a block into the west side industrial complex.
EBRR 50' boxcar #360279 is spotted at Reliable Machine Company for its next P.C.C.M. load.
The MIJ is pulling an empty EBRR 86' boxcar from the storage track and loaded boxcars from Walsh Steel Wool Products.
EL 73510 and NYC Early Bird boxcar are loaded with steel wool scrap for Boom's Ready Mix in Kings Port NY.
The MIJ is now working the Moore & Company siding and pulling EBRR 50' boxcar #358160 loaded with bulk paper for Marcal in Rock Ridge NJ. They're gonna need it!!
The switch work is complete on the west side and 1/87th scale Sir Neal shoves the train back towards Hohman Ave.
1/87th scale conductor John is protecting the shove move and getting a wave from the Hohman Ave tower man.
The Morning Industrial Job is working the midtown siding and pulling the orange HRC 50' RBL from Empire Produce loaded with fresh fruit for Van Winkle Canning in Bloomberg NY.
Empty EL 57' reefer #5034 is spotted at Empire Produce for its next P.C.C.M. load.
The MIJ is shoving east to work the east side industrial sidings.

Three empty 50' Penn Central RBLs are pulled from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
1/87th scale Sir Neal has left the Morning Industrial Job's freight cars tied down on the industrial running track, tied up his U23Cs in the yard and is bringing the waybills to the office.
With his waybills in hand 1/87th scale PC Ralph and his trusty conductor couple an empty Tropicana RBL onto the MIJ freight cars and prepare to depart as EBRR train EB-2.
EB-2 crosses the Empire City viaduct.
Train EB-2 heads thru Bedford NY.
EB-2 arrives at Terminal Yard.
We'll cut it here today with 1/87th scale PC Ralph heading back towards North Side Yard caboose light.
We'll pick it up and close it out tomorrow with the Terminal Yard train men working hard to get our outbound trains built and dispatched.

  1. Wow! What a action packed series! It's been very enjoyable following your latest episodes of operation John. I know that the 1/87 me enjoyed running the NYC Alco S-4. Thanks again!

    1. Hello Robert R!!! Glad you are following along and enjoying the series. This is a big one with around 70 cars being to interchanged on the NYCTL alone. 1/87th scale Robert R continues to do a fine job and will be back next weekend for the inbound series. Stay well!!!

Acknowledge the dispatch and work of the Morning Industrial Job
Acknowledge dispatch of EB-2 from North Side Yard and arrival at Terminal Yard

    West Mill out.

I'm enjoying seeing the U23C's with their distinctive yellow panels getting regular assignments. The Empire Belt front office made a good call acquiring these units! Great work by the MIJ with all of that switching! Nice shot of the ACI scanner in the second photo! The beefy GP30s look good at the head end of EB-2! Terminal Yard is on the verge of dispatching trains! West Mill and Williams Yard will be ready to receive cars for the Kings Port Division. Nice job all around!

    1. 10-4 West Mill...

Thanks for the compliments Ralph!! I agree, the EBRR U23Cs have found a home! If we're gonna add ACI labels we need scanners and I really appreciate the two you made for me. They continue to provide excellent tracking service! The EBRR GP30s were well rested and in need of some action. Putting them on EB-2 was perfect for clearing their exhaust stacks!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

You gotta love those Geeps on the Empire Belt! They really worked EB-2 as it looked good on the high line. The U23C engines are doing a great job in Terminal Yard and Empire City.

  4. Agree with Robert R., lots of great action in and around Empire City with P.C.C.M. 72! Nice mix of motive power and trains coming and going. One question? Who makes the PC RBL's that you have spotted at Ralph's Grocery? They look really sharp! Looking forward to seeing the inbound trains arriving from the KPD and APRR.
