P.C.C.M. 29G / Dispatch of train EC-1 / EC-2

Greetings All,

P.C.C.M. 29G
Today we'll watch Train EC-1, the Empire City Turn, leave from Terminal Yard, work an industry at Bedford NY and then arrive at North Side Yard in Empire City. The crew at North Side Yard will break down and reorganize the train so that the cars can be forwarded to their respective consignees or interchanged with the L.I.R.R. later in the day. An outbound EC-2 will head back to Terminal Yard with freight cars for the rest of the model railroad world. Let's get started;

Once again the N.Y.C.T.L. will try and spot NYC 892021 at Wonder /Hostess in Bedford NY. The car came back with the Bedford Park Turn after the lead was blocked by a Bad Order (B/O) car.

The Terminal yard switchers are pulling the caboose and NYC 892021 from the rear of train B.P.T. on track 8 under the watchful eyes of 1/87 the scale Sir Neal and PC Ralph.
EC-1 / EC-2 is all class today with AP GP38-2 #358 known as the Sir Neal and PC GP38 7675 aka the Sir Larry as the power. 
Train EC-1 meets a transfer run from Cedar Hill waiting for track space in Terminal Yard. The forced takeover of the bankrupt New Haven RR has added some nice color to the N.Y.C.T.L.
Finally! EC-1 spots NYC 892021 at Hostess / Wonder . The PC boxcar on the right had been blocking access to the spot needed. It was repaired and is back in service. 
With the cars from Hostess /Wonder behind the engines EC-1 makes it way thru Bedford Station. 
Bedford Tower Operator 1/87th scale John B give EC-1 a roll by inspection.
EC-1 on the High Line heading into Empire City and towards North Side Yard.
EC-1 has arrived at North Side Yard and 1/87th scale Sir Neal and PC Ralph exchange pleasantries with today's North Side Yard crew. The new crew is assured that once the Sir Neal and Sir Larry engines head back into the vast PC system they will be back working North Side Yard.
While 1/87th scale PC Ralph and Sir Neal enjoy a fine meal at Dominick's Little Italy Restaurant the North Side Yard crew get busy blocking the inbound and outbound cars and putting train EC-2 together.
EC-2 leaving North Side yard and passing Hohman Ave tower manned by a very proud 1/87th scale Tower Operator Larry D, aka Sir Larry of Flemington. He's happy to see his engine here in Empire City and has resisted the urge to jump aboard.

1/87th scale Sir Neal is feeding her the fuel as he crosses over to track 3. He likes to get a good running start at the grade leading up to Terminal Yard
Climbing the grade into Terminal Yard all 4,000 horses are pulling hard and maintaining a steady speed!
 EC-2 engine 7675 is recorded as arriving at Terminal Yard on the newly installed ACI scanner as it heads into track 2..

And if you read this far here's the skinny on NYC covered hopper 892021. I left the switch list at Terminal Yard and simply bypassed Hostess / Wonder and upon arrival at Bedford Park noted the NYC covered hopper on the train. Since I had already photographed a good portion of the action of P.C.C.M. 29F I came up with a plausible reason why that car was not delivered on it's first attempt.

  1. West Mill acknowledges the dispatch of EC-1/EC-2. The PC/A.P.R.R. Geep consist is very appealing! I noted the nice work on the concrete parking lot in the 8th photo. As for covered hopper #892021...I'm glad I'm not the only one that does things like that! Good cover story!

    1. Thanks for the compliments Ralph! You have a sharp eye! The cement lot you noted is a portion of the layout that received a much needed makeover that I'll publish here soon. Remember, it's not the mistake that counts so much it's how well you recover!
