P.C.C.M. #40I / Arrival of Train VN-4

Greetings All,

The final train movements of the three layout P.C.C.M. 40 series have reached the N.Y.C.T.L. The 40 series originated on Neal's A.P.R.R. layout. Train WV-2 left Weehawken on Neal's layout and traveled up the River Line on Ralph's K.P.D. layout stopping at West Mill. Cars from WV-2 for the K.P.D. were pulled from the train and cars from the K.P.D. for Terminal Yard were cut in. WV-2 left on West Mill on time for it's ultimate destination Selkirk Yard.

We'll pick up the action with Train VN-4 (Selkirk to Terminal Yard) arriving on N.Y.C.T.L. rails.

To:         West Mill / Rock Ridge
From:    Terminal Yard
Subject: Arrival of Train VN-4 at Terminal Yard

Train VN-4 departed Selkirk at 1000 hrs this date and arrived on time at 1900 hrs.

Terminal Yard out...

VN-4 rolls over the High Line towards Bedford NY behind an FA2-FB1-FB1-F7A-F7A lash up.
VN-4 rolls slowly over the Cornelius Vanderbilt Memorial Bridge and into the Bedford curve.
VN-4 crosses to track #3 while a commuter train is at Bedford Station.
VN-4 holds on track 3 while commuter train behind PC FP7 4348 heads to Terminal Yard on track 2
The commuter train arrives at Terminal Yard
Much to the appreciation of the waiting passengers. Looks like the N.Y.C.T.L. train crews are going out for a night on the town via public transportation.
VN-4 is now clear to head into Terminal Yard and is seen climbing the grade behind Hudson Coal
Part of the block from West Mill can be seen behind the Hudson Coal freight platform.
 VN-4 stretching around T&R Gravel
Part of the block of cars from Rock Ridge
The remainder of the Rock Ridge block crossing over from track 3
It's 1900 hours (7:00 PM) and VN-4 arrives on time at Terminal Yard.
VN-4 makes it's way down track 9 and over the weigh in motion scale passing today's TY switcher. NYC GP20 #6107 is fresh out of the shop after getting new axle gears for the front two axles.
Freight cars from VN-4 coming thru the yard lead.

Thanks for reading and watching!

  2. Great work on P.C.C.M. 40 John! I like the way you showed the train arriving. I hope the guys on the platform know the E.B. requires alcohol testing by someone from Empire City P.D. on occasion, unless prior arrangements have been made...?

    1. Thanks for the compliments 1:1 Sir Neal! The guys are well aware of the E.B.'s policy towards drunkenness on duty. It's not really encouraged so the guys have marked off for the night.

Darn commuter trains seem to be getting in the way of things in this series! :) The newly ballasted Terminal Yard is looking good and functioning beautifully!

    1. 10-4 West Mill! The PC inherited a huge amount of commuter traffic from the N.Y.C. /PRR and NH. I liked seeing the commuter train at West Mill with the FP7 and it was the virtual ops catalyst for a similar train on my layout. Meaning I copied it!. Thanks for the compliments!

  4. Really enjoyed watching VN-4 make its way around the NYCTL. The commuter train was a nice touch to the action. Terminal Yard improvements are looking good in the photos and video.
